Can someone bring me up to speed on all the major changes in AE?

Or perhaps link me to somewhere that does? I literally know nothing atm besides that yun and yang will be in it... what did they do to abel/guy?

Abel got his with the nerf pipe pretty hard, he may not be able to walk again. Guy on the other hand, got buffed pretty good if I remember correctly. I'll see if I can find a link to all the changes somewhere for ya.

Thanks guys. Man, abel's U2 got absolutely owned, and substantial nerfs even besides. Feels bad man... On the upside, guy is looking much better, so I might be using that dude a bit more, and makoto finally looks like a solid character who I might be interested in playing. Either way, I'm not looking to get hardcore into this game like I did back in the vanilla/infancy of ssf4 days. It's going to be more of a 'play-once-in-a-while-for-lulz / play with dsb members' type of thing .... at least I hope so.

hah, but that would take away from my other-hobbies time. What's this I hear about playing fei and acquiring currency, is he really that good in AE? Or is it that his potential was never fully realized back when I played?

Fei is great in Super, he's a beast when his links and pokes are on point. In AE a lot of his bad matchups have changed slightly in his favor and with the buffs he got his better matchups got easier. I think the only bad matchups that probably didn't change much is Chun-li and Dee Jay. Just a guess tho.

I feel halfway through Super's lifetime that everyone has been developing Fei a lot more (and now in AE he is even better)

Cody got slightly buffed
Sagat got his OP st.lk back (i think)

Actually Pabbs, besides the lose of invincibility on Tortilla and the nerf on U2 (which I agree was needed and I didn't like it anyway cause it was OP), Fuerte is actually looking much stronger in this game cause of his major buffs to his normals (the one thing that was keeping him down)...safe Tortilla is still possible I heard recently

So I played vanilla tonight (forgot I even still had it until I discovered it while rummaging through my old games for my copy of the orange box), and it help me decide that Imma get ssf4 the day psn goes back up. Looking forward to dsb reunion games to help shake off the rust from my obsolete abel technology.

You're not gonna use Guy along with Abel? Also, why did you get rid of SSF4 but not vanilla? lol

i traded in ssf4 becows it provided me with enough trade-in credit that I could do a '3 old games for 1 new game' thing at eb games, while vanilla only would have gotten me about 2 dollars. And yeah, I'm going to be using guy, but he was never really my 'main' character per se, and I only have access to abel on vanilla so when I get super, my guy will be even rustier. I'm looking to learn a new character as well, probably makoto or cody or whoever's cool in AE.

What about Gouken, Dudley or Hakan? Just to have some diversity lol. Cody and Makoto are good choices tho.

actually, I was messing around with dudley right before I stopped playing, he's pretty cool with pressure and mixups and stuff, so perhaps. Gouken and hakan are a bit too slow for my liking, though. By the way, did anyone ever figure out a way to make hakan viable in competetive play?

that's cool stuff. I asked this on gamespot a second ago as well, but have you guys noticed a change in abel gameplay online in the last year? Like, is the average abel doing anything differently than they were back when I played? I'm hoping I can just get back online and (barring some matchup knowledge I need to re-learn) still be able to compete with joe ryu down the block, but I have a feeling that I'm gonna have to develop all new strategy to adapt to the meta-game.

As you saw from GFAQS/gamespot, the responses were horrible (a ton of them were just trolling)

Basically it hasn't evolved too much, it's pretty much the same. Unfortunately I'm not an Abel player so I'm not the best to ask lol

do any of you guys use dudley? After some messin around, I definitely think he's going to be my new character, be it secondary or otherwise. Guy feels so foreign to me now, almost as if I never used him in the first place due to almost completely forgetting how to do everything with him. Abel still feels like old times, it's just too bad that he's nerf-city in AE and loses to all the top tier characters (won't stop me from using him though!). But yeah, dudley players in the house? I could use some pointers.

I use Dudder's a lil bit, but probly not enough to be of much use, lol.

You can link his Cr.Lp into his St.Hk pretty easy, and follow it with almost anything, but I prefer to use Cr.Lp - Cr.Lk - ~, cause it's alot easier, and I'll never forget it cause of Rog, lol

You can also super off his overhead, which is a nice touch against turtles, but his command dash - grab works better against them.



I don't mind so much that Abel's getting the nerf hammer, I'll still use him pretty much the same as I do now, U2 and everything
